Uni-Solar Ovonic Selects Site for New Solar Panel Plant
United Solar Ovonic, LLC (Uni-Solar Ovonic) recently announced it has selected the site for its second "state-of-the-art" thin-film solar panel manufacturing facility.
Under a 10-year lease agreement between a unit of Southfield, MI-based General Development Company, LLC and Uni-Solar Ovonic, General Development will construct a 160,000-square-foot manufacturing facility for Uni-Solar Ovonic at the Auburn Hills Commerce Park in Auburn Hills, MI, near the current Uni-Solar manufacturing facility. |
|
According to Uni-Solar Ovonic, construction of the new facility is expected to begin in July following site plan approvals and issuance of building permits, with completion and occupancy of the new facility scheduled for May 2006.
|
Uni-Solar Ovonic noted that a portion of the facility will be available in October of this year to begin installation of the new thin-film solar manufacturing equipment. When fully operational, Uni-Solar Ovonic said the facility is expected to double the company's manufacturing capacity and to employ approximately 200 additional people.
